About me

My Name is Nathaniel and why don't I tell you a little more about my eccentric life that has led me to teaching music.

My parents met ever so long ago at a folk dance camp. They are both musicians, and I was raised in the folk world learning about all sorts of traditional music and dance. I asked if I could learn to play the violin when I was in kindergarden and upon entering 1st grade I got my wish.

I began by taking classical violin classes at the Winchester Music School and when violin was offered as part of the elementry school program I instantly joined the orchestra. I remained at the music school with a variety of teachers until I became 14. It was then that I started to learn a more in depth traditional fiddle/improv style from local fiddler David Langford. At the same time, being caught up in the fiddle music led me to join a youth Morris and Sword team and subsequently went to england 3 times for international competative dance events (where my team won "Most Exciting Dance" in 2006's DERT).

In 2007 The Bridgebuilders formed, a major outlet for musical creativity, and began playing music around the boston area. Travelling up and down the east coast playing shows and learning how to write, record, and perform and helped me to understand music on another level. In 2008 I began teaching Violin too four kids out of The Music Shop of Melrose. The Bridgebuilders since then have released a full length album, a vinyl single, and a series of three EP's. I have received an AA in Music from Bunker Hill Community College and the whole while have grown to have 25+ students and have begun teaching out of two more stores in Dracut and Essex MA.

I love to teach, and while it started as a side job it has quickly become another passion. I am now making teaching my career and am on a quest to take on as many students as I can fit into a weekly schedule!
